Efeito da inoculacao de Septoria glycines Hemmi em plantas de soja (Glycine max (L.) Merrill) em quatro estadios de desenvolvimento. Infoteca-e
ALMEIDA, A. M. R..

Effect of conservation tillage systems on growth, yield and yield components of soybean CIGR Journal
Sharifi, Ahmad; Sadeghnezhad, Hamid Reza; Faraji, Abolfazl.
Conservation tillage systems have been used during recent years in many areas of Iran. In this study, the effect of conservation tillage on soybean yield, yield components and phenological characteristics was evaluated in Golestan province located at the northern Iran. Four different treatments including conventional tillage (CT), minimum tillage (MT), no- tillage with no-till planter (NT-Planter) and no-tillage with no-till grain drill (NT-Grain Drill) were considered. A randomized complete block design with four replications was designed for the experiment. Soybean yield and yield components and some phenological characteristics were measured. Data were analyzed using SAS software and Duncan’s multiple range tests was used to compare the means. The...

Effect of Different Thermal and Non-Thermal Processing Methods on Chemical Composition, Quality Indicators and Apparent Nutrient Digestibility of Full-Fat Soybean Rev. Bras. Ciênc. Avic.
Lehmali,IF; Jafari,MA.
ABSTRACT The aim of this research was to study the effect of thermal and non-thermal processing methods on chemical composition, quality indicators and apparent digestibility of soybean nutrients. For this, four processing methods (unprocessed, extruded, thermal, and gamma radiation) were applied on two soybean varieties (Katol & Caspian). Rations were formulated based on kinds of soybean (processed and unprocessed). The experiment was continued using 600 male Ross broiler chickens during 3 feeding phases (starter, grower, and finisher). Traits were measured and analyzed with the Lsmeans procedure by SAS software. The results showed the interaction effects of soybean varieties and processing methods were significant on the crude fiber, calcium, and...

Effect of salt on the growth and metabolism of Glycine max BABT
Queiroz,Helena Müller; Sodek,Ladaslav; Haddad,Claudia Regina Baptista.
Soybean plants cultivated with 50, 100 and 200 mM of NaCl, revealed that root growth was less affected by salinity than shoots. Salinity led to a reduction in leaf area and an increase in water content of the roots. These factors could contribute to the adaptation of the plant, improving its hydration. Although nitrate and free amino acid levels were reduced by salt treatment in roots, protein content of leaves was not altered. Salinity led to alterations in xylem amino acid composition, with increases in Ser, Ala, Gaba and Pro and a decrease in Asn. Similar changes were seen for Asn and Ser in roots together with a much stronger increase in Gaba. It is suggested that the decline in Asn reflects its conversion to Ala and Gaba (via Glu) in the roots while...

Effect of temperature shock on soybean microspore embryogenesis BABT
Moraes,Ana Paula de; Bonadese-Zanettini,Maria Helena; Callegari-Jacques,Sídia Maria; Kaltchuk-Santos,Eliane.
In this study the effect of cold and heat shock on androgenetic induction in soybean anther culture was tested. Anthers of soybean were subjected to 4 and 33ºC, while the anthers used for control were maintained at 25ºC. Cytological analysis done during the 30 days of culture showed that frequencies of symmetrical binucleated and multicellular pollen grain did not differ among temperature treatments. Multicellular pollen grain could be formed by symmetrical division, as well as by assymetrical division. In relation to the embryo induction, the results of the treatments did not differ too. These results suggested that these treatments did not induce a sporophytic pathway in soybean.

Effects of a methanolic fraction of soybean seeds on the transcriptional activity of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors (PPAR) BJMBR
Carrara,V.S.; Amato,A.A.; Neves,F.A.R.; Bazotte,R.B.; Mandarino,J.M.G.; Nakamura,C.V.; Filho,B.P.D.; Cortez,D.A.G..
Since the anti-inflammatory, antidiabetic and hypolipidemic effects of soy isoflavones may be mediated by activation of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors (PPAR), the present study investigated whether the methanolic fractions obtained from soybean seeds (E1) and soybean seed coats with hypocotyls (E2) could influence PPARα, PPARγ and PPARβ/δ transcriptional activity. The isoflavones from E1 and E2 were quantified by HPLC analysis. E1 and E2 were rich in isoflavones (daidzin, glycitin, genistin, malonyldaidzin, malonylglycitin, malonylgenistin, daidzein, glycitein, and genistein). Moreover, E1 and E2 showed no evidence of genetically modified material containing the gene CP4 EPSPS. To investigate PPAR transcriptional activity, human promonocytic...

Effects of high arsenic and fluoride soil concentrations on soybean plants Phyton
Bustingorri,C; Balestrasse,K; Lavado,RS.
Arsenic (As) and Fluoride (F) are present in many soils, affecting crops and posing risks in the food chain. We performed pot experiments on spiked soils enriched in these elements either individually or simultaneously, over a wide range of concentrations. Soybean biomass production, grain yield, As and F accumulation and distribution within the plant, and the antioxidant response to these stresses were analyzed. Arsenic was more toxic than F. At As levels >35 mg/kg and F levels >375 mg/kg, yield loss reached 60% and 30%, respectively. At the highest dose of As plants died within 2 weeks, whereas F showed no lethality. When they were applied simultaneously, detrimental effects were more important. As and F in plants increased in all soybean organs...

Effects of Soybean Checkoff Research Expenditures on U.S. Soybean Yields and Net Revenue: A Time Series Analysis AgEcon
Bessler, David A..
Statistical methods are used to study relationships between research expenditures (adjusted for inflation) made from producer checkoff programs and soybean yields and net revenues in the United States for the years 1978 – 2007. Results presented are for yield and net revenue data and research expenditures for the entire United States. We find that research expenditures over the years 1994 to 2007 are responsible for a 0.95 bushel per acre per year increase in soybean yields. We calculate net producer revenues to be about $17 per acre higher than would have been the case without the soybean research checkoff expenditures.
